Changing Skin with Changing Seasons and What to Do About It

Have you ever noticed how your skin starts to look worse during the changing of the seasons? Just like our weather trying to decide if it wants to be cold or warm when headed into the first few weeks of winter, your skin can’t decide between dry, normal, or oily skin (depending on your skin type). This often results in embarrassing breakouts and lot more time spent on trying to cover those up! The good thing is (kinda) is that you’re not alone in this adaptation time – it’s completely normal.

As the seasons change, so must your skincare routine. In the winter seasons your skin generally gets dryer, thus more moisturizing, natural oils and protection is what your skin needs most! Get Feisty with that dry skin and moisturize, moisturize, and then moisturize some more. You can hardly apply too much since your skin absorbs the added moisture so much faster in winter. Also less sun means less vitamin b and wind means less moisture.  Eat more olive oil and omega 3 to give your skin a lively look during the cold seasons. And ladies, DON’T do tanning that will make it worse in the long run – our mission is NOT to look like scaley burnt fish!

When Life Gives You Lemons…

Make ‘lemonade’ for your skin!  What I am REALLY saying is that you can really turn anything around and make it good. You can even use this ol’ cliche – literally – by using a lemon for the benefit of your skin!

Did you know that the Lemon, “Citrus limon,” has a reputation for lightening skin, fading age spots, removing excess oil, tightening pores and removing redness from blemishes on the face? The active ingredient in lemons is citric acid. When we use the vitamin C as topical use, a key ingredient in lemons, it helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Here are some tips on how to use lemon juice for your skin:

For acne: Extract juice of one lemon and mix with equal quantity of rose water. Apply this mixture on the face and let it stay for about half an hour. Wash the face with fresh water. About 15 days application helps cure acne, pimples and reduces blemishes and scars.

For Wrinkles and Dark Spots: If you apply a little bit of lemon juice to your face, approximately 2 to 3 times a day, it is highly effective at fading away both skin blemishes as well as wrinkles, fine lines and other signs of aging, such as dark circles. You can purchase a lemon and just squeeze a bit of juice onto your hands, and then apply it to your face (or neck) by rubbing it in gently.
